The Whistler Pro78SE offers the same high performance of it's predecessor, the Whistler Pro-78, but now adds “Ka MAX MODE” for improved range and detection on the Ka radar band (33.4 -to 36.0 GHz in the USA or 34.1GHz to 35.1GHz in Australia).
According to Whistler, the Pro-78SE will deliver performance very similar to that of a high performance Bel or Escort model - at less than half the price...independent testing needs to confirm this.
The Whistler Pro-78 SE also provides a unique "Signature ID" feature for Ka band radar (RSID) and laser (LSID) This feature provides more detailed information about the alert you are receiving, and for laser allows you to lock out false alerts based on the pulse rate!
The Whistler Pro-78SE also offers all of the features you would expect in a high performance radar / laser detector. It will detect POP mode radar and provides Whistler's Real Voice™ alerts. The Pro-78 SE provides a red text display. A digital compass is also provided.
The Whistler Pro78-SE also delivers several features that are new to Whistler including "periscope" alert LEDs on the top of the unit, opposite the "laser eye", a battery voltage meter, and VG-2 immunity. These Whistler models (although not 100% undetectable to Spectre radar detector detectors) are quite “stealthy” only being able to detected by the Spectre 4 RDD at under 100m.
The Whistler Pro78SE is NOT recommended for use outside of Western Australia. It is NOT stealth, and therefore will be detected by the police radar detector detectors.
