The Escort 9500ix radar detector's main added benefit over and above the Escort X50 is the addition of the GPS module. The GPS has two benefits - firstly it can lock out the false K-band alerts you continually get when driving around city areas and secondly, you can download a database of known fixed speed & red light cameras. The Escort 9500ix is also NOT stealth, therefore only suited to WA or NZ. Choose this detector if you do mainly city driving and can't stand the false alerts on K-band caused by automatic opening doors.

Location Database Updates and Detector Software Updates for the Passport 9500ix, Passport 9500i, and Passport 9500ci require a Windows based computer. (Operating on Windows XP or Vista only).
Detector must be powered (if not using a laptop with the car turned on, Passport 9500i and Passport 9500ix require a Radar Detector 12 Volt Adapter - not included with detectors).
Both the Passport 9500i and Passport 9500ix require an USB A to Mini USB cable (USB printer cable required for Passport 9500ci) - not included with detector - before you can install location database updates and detector software updates.
