That being said, the 9500ix sold on this website comes from the USA and therefore can (unfortunately) ONLY be uploaded with the USA database of fixed speed cameras. IT CANNOT BE UPLOADED WITH AUS / NZ DATABASE
If you're thinking to yourself "well what's the point" - consider this...
Most people already have a navigation device (Navman, Garmin, Tom-Tom) that can alert to fixed cameras. You an even get FREE speed camera programs for your smart phones (like www.trapster.com)
Since the 9500ix has a built in GPS module, you can still use this (USA version) to lock out all the false radar signals caused by automatic opening doors. Thereby giving you a much quieter driver around WA or NZ.
Having this false alarm lock out feature (Escort call this "Truelock") is the most useful feature of the GPS enabled radar detectors. This 9500ix model - even though the USA version - will still do this perfectly.
You can also manually program any fixed speed camera locations into this unit if you really want to....it just can't be uploaded with the Aussie / New Zealand database.
So if you already have a GPS device that alerts you to fixed speed cameras (or you use Trapster on your smart phone) but you DO want to be able to lock out all the false radar alerts, then save yourself $300 and buy this model.
Otherwise, you'll need to buy the $800+ Aus model from one of our competitor's. But Ask them first why they charge $800 for a radar detector that is retailing everywhere else for $499 US dollars?!?
Is an extra $300 really worth it for the limited number of fixed speed cameras in Perth? You can always add them in manually if you really want.

The Escort 9500ix radar detector's main added benefit over and above the Escort X50 is the addition of the GPS module. The GPS can lock out the false K-band alerts you continually get when driving around city areas as well as storing locations of fixed speed & red light cameras.
