Beltronics™ (also known as Bel™) are well know throughout the radar detector industry as having high quality products. But there are only two Bel™ radar detectors recommended for use in Australia, and that is the STi Driver (the portable unit) or the STi-R PLUS (the hidden / installed version).

Please note: For those in Australia or New Zealand, the Bel STi Driver is rebranded as the "Bel XR" whilst the Bel STi-R PLUS is called the "XRC PLUS"

What's the difference you ask?

There is absolutely NO difference between the "Bel STi Driver" and the "Bel XR" other than a "XR" sticker placed on the unit. This has been tested and verified by numerous hobbyists and sellers both in Australia and the USA.

There IS however a slight difference between the USA model STi-R PLUS and the AU/NZ model "XRC PLUS" and that is the USA model cannot be uploaded with the Aus database.

There are NO performance or hardware differences, the USA model will still detect ALL Australian & New Zealand police radars and lasers just as well as the Aus model, the ONLY difference, is they got sneaky with their software and won't let you upload the Aus database onto a USA model.

They do this to try and get you to pay $550 more to buy it in Australia!

If you wish to buy one of these so called "specially tuned" AU/NZ detectors then by all means, pay $200 - $550 more from one of our competitors.
